Where is Doonbeg?
Doonbeg is situated in the small ancient village of Doonbeg whose name comes from the Irish “Dún Beag” (small fort). This intimate parish in West County Clare is nestled on a magnificent expanse on the southwest coast of Ireland.

-
Is real estate available for purchase?
Yes, fractional ownership opportunities are available. The Links Cottages at Doonbeg – A Timbers Resorts Residence Club, are available through the private residence club program. Your real estate purchase is a deeded fee simple interest, which can be willed to your children, transferred or resold. Deeded ownership ensures that your family will enjoy Doonbeg for years to come.
-
What is fractional ownership?
Fractional ownership at Doonbeg is deeded (freehold) ownership of a Links Cottage by multiple like-minded individuals. All Owners enjoy the benefits of five-star resort amenities and services, and each Owner receives an equity interest in a Cottage and has full access to stay there as often as they like, subject only to the reservation procedures. The number of interests purchased by each Owner can range from one to many to match the Owner’s desired use and lifestyle.
-
How is fractional ownership different from timeshare?
Timeshares typically offer a non-deeded (non-freehold) right to use a specific week each year at a specific resort or within a large network of properties, which may or may not be the same quality of the resort where the timeshare was originally purchased. After a number of years this right goes away. Should the Owner no longer want the timeshare, there is typically not a resale market for timeshares. Fractional ownership at Doonbeg is deeded (freehold) real estate that may be bought, sold or passed to the next generation just as any real property interest. At Doonbeg, Owners receive a deeded (freehold) co-ownership interest in their home that provides them with a specific number of guaranteed holiday weeks each year, along with unlimited days that can be reserved on space-available and short-notice basis subject to the reservation procedures, at no additional cost. Owners request their planned holiday weeks annually through a fair and equitable rotating priority reservation system, which allows Owners to enjoy flexibility in their holiday planning from year to year.
-
Why should I consider a fractional residence?
In recent years the idea of owning not all, but a fraction of a high-end holiday residence has become increasingly popular. Owning a fractional residence makes sense for people who want to spend time at their holiday home and have it completely managed for them. Ownership at Doonbeg is completely hassle-free with all maintenance and upkeep cared for.
Investing in a fractional ownership property grants ownership in a luxurious residence for a fraction of the price. Quite simply, for a fraction of the cost of owning an entire residence and shouldering all the hassles and expenses alone, one can enjoy a home of much higher quality, along with exquisite amenities and services, for considerably less. Perhaps most importantly, fractional ownership residences optimize investment in a holiday property, as Owners purchase only the number of interests that will match the amount of vacation time they want to use each year. Fractional ownership allows you to scale your investment to match the demands of your lifestyle. -
How often may I use my fractional ownership?
Your ownership at Doonbeg allows you to come as often as you like. Subject only to the club’s reservation procedures, your use is essentially unlimited. Timbers Resorts pioneered this fractional ownership structure over ten years ago with only a few other private residence clubs in the US at the time.
With several other Timbers Resorts properties utilizing this reservation system, it has established a track record for ensuring Owner satisfaction. Generally, the reservation procedures provide Owners with a guaranteed number of planned weeks each year during the prime seasons. If you are fortunate enough to have even more time to spend at your vacation home, the club can accommodate you on a space-available basis throughout the year. -
Do Owners pay annual assessments?
Yes, in keeping with Doonbeg’s goal of providing hassle-free ownership, the club’s staff will handle all the details of maintaining the club and its residences. On behalf of the Homeowners Association, the club’s professional management team will collect annual dues from Owners and then manage payment of all utilities, property taxes, insurance, staff salaries, supplies, materials, maintenance, trash removal and accounting fees. A portion of your annual dues also goes toward contributing to a capital reserve fund for future repair and replacement needs.
-
Is there a reciprocity program at other properties established for Owners at Doonbeg?
Yes. Through the Timbers Reciprocity Program (TRP), you are provided with the exclusive benefit to trade your planned vacation weeks at Doonbeg with Owners at the other luxury resorts within the Timbers Resorts portfolio. Destinations include The Timbers Club in Snowmass, Colorado; Esperanza in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; The Rocks Luxury Residence Club in Scottsdale, Arizona; Castello di Casole in Tuscany, Italy and The Orchard at The Carneros Inn in Napa, California.
