On The Water

Doonbeg’s coastal position makes it an ideal group destination for all water sports, including fishing, sailing, and especially surfing, as there are a huge number of popular surfing spots nearby and Ireland’s “surfing mecca,” Lahinch, is within close range.

 

Fishing - Head out on your choice of an Offshore or Inshore guided fishing excursion where with any luck you'll catch Whiting, Big Cod, Pollock or many other fish species.  These angling adventures allow you to deep sea fish or fly fish depending on your preference.

Sailing - Spend an afternoon learning how to sail on your choice of vessel.  There are also weekend races in which experienced mariners can participate.

Surfing - Specifically known for it's surfing beaches, the coast of Clare provides an excellent location to learn or show off your your surfing skills.  There are several surf shops that will outfit you with gear and give you lessons if you wish.

Swimming - The coast of Clare offers many sandy, safe beaches for swimmers wanting to test the Irish sea water.  There are also a couple of locations nearby with pools for indoor swimming.

Dolphin Watching - Get on the water via a dolphin-watch boat tour where your guide will point out many types of marine wildlife and you might even have the chance to listen to underwater dolphin sounds.
