The Doonbeg Golf Club and Links Cottages at Doonbeg are situated in the small village of Doonbeg. From the Irish “Dún Beag” (small fort), Doonbeg is a small parish in West County Clare nestled on a magnificent coastal expanse.
Known by some as the “Long Village” on account of its reputedly standing as “the longest village in Ireland,” Doonbeg is approximately 7 miles from Kilkee and Kilrush and 30 minutes from one of Ireland’s favourite surfing spots, Lahinch. Overlooked by the ruins of Doonbeg castle, the central point of the village is an old stone bridge which crosses the Doonbeg river. Located in the diocese of Killaloe, there is one Roman Catholic church located in the village, several pubs (Madigan’s, Tubridy’s, Comerford’s, Morrisey’s and the Igoe Inn), two shops, a post office, a village hall, and tourist office.
A short distance from Shannon Airport and under 200 miles from Dublin City, the coastal resort is closely situated to a huge number of Ireland’s most desired cultural attractions including the extraordinary landscape of The Burren, The Cliffs of Moher, and Ireland’s surfing mecca, Lahinch.
